Common Sense Defense is for the average citizen who goes to work, shops,
goes to school, is out in public and may be the victim of a crime. Purse
snatchers, Smash and Dash car thieves, Car jackers, home invaders,
stalkers, rapists and other people are out there hoping you will be
distracted or alone and a good target.
This class is not martial arts,
no flying kicks or flips or things that may not work in a vehicle or
small hallway. Avoid and Escape are the main goals. Simple every day
things we can do to make it harder for anyone to take advantage of us.
During the class there will be discussions about pepper spray/mace vs
baton vs stun guns vs knives vs guns.
You choose what you are
comfortable with carrying. These items are available during class. Age
12 and up are the recommended. Anyone can attend the class but sexual
assault and rape are mentioned however not in detail. Class will encourage
you to be ready and prepared for 'bad guys' so you can avoid situations
at home, school, work and church and commuting to them all.
I am not a
'man basher' and I know that women do not have the upper body strength
of men so we need an equalizer. We need to be smart and have a weapon of
some type to use to create the opportunity of escape. Hard to believe
but it is a fun class. Loads of laughs.
Teenagers, college kids, anyone
who drives alone, or lives alone. The elderly and the middle aged -
guess that is all of us. Where do you keep your purse when you are
driving? Are you doors locked? Are your doors at home locked? Are they
locked when you are inside? What are the chances your identity will be
stolen? What are the chances of you being the victim of an attack? Most
rapes/sexual assaults happen within a mile from home! Only 7% of rapist
are total strangers. So be careful of who you know.
What do you do if
someone gets in the car with you and has a knife? or a gun? What if they
want you to drive them to your ATM and take out money? What do you do?
No matter what you wear, how you dress, what you do for a living or
where you live or what you drive makes you deserving of an assault.
Tired of being scared?
I can help! Not just with the avoidance but
physically show you how to get away from an attacker. Away and to
safety. $40 for the class. Sure beats an ER bill.
These classes are 2 to 2 1/2 hours long and can be held at any location.
Private groups ok. Also do a talk on church security mainly for women.
What do you do if a child comes in with bruises? What do you do if
someone shows up and demands their child that came with the other
parent? How can you protect yourself and your church from law suits?
Prevention is truly a splendid thing !
